New Hope - Southall Memorial Charge
two-point charge in the Farmville District
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Carol Mann was appointed to the New Hope - Southall Memorial Charge in June 2002. This is her first appointment. She answered God's call to the ministry after retiring from the Federal Government in July 2000 after 30 years of service. After retiring from Federal service, Pastor Carol served as the Farmville District Lay Leader and served the district faithfully by representing the Farmville District on the Conference Board of Laity and on the Conference Council of Ministries. She was also a member of all District Committees during this time. Pastor Carol became a widow in 1998 after a wonderful 39-year marriage. She has two married adult children.
served as an active lay person in my local United Methodist Church
beginning in 1973. I have served as Lay Leader, Chair of the Administrative
Council, Choir Director and Musician, Sunday School Teacher, Youth
Director, and member of the United Methodist Women's Group. It was
during my service as District Lay Leader that I felt God calling me
to the ministry as a Local Pastor. In the fall of 2001 I answered
that call and began the steps to become a Local Pastor. I completed
Local Pastor Training in April of 2002. I have completed three years
of Course of Study training at Duke University and will attend again
in July of 2006 and 2007. I came to the New Hope-Southall Memorial
Charge in June 2002 as my first assignment. It is my desire to guide
these churches as we seek together to gain a deeper understanding
and commitment to God's plan for these two churches as we serve Him
together in each of their communities."
